Winemaker Location: Italy
Day 22’s wine is Strut King, an Italian vino rosso or a red wine blend. This a semi-dry, lush with bright red berry, currant and plum flavors, and a tannin structure that is more silky than astringent. It’s a palate pleaser in my view, and very versatile. It pairs great with tomato sauce-based dishes like lasagna or spaghetti marinara/bolognese. And despite it being medium bodied, Strut King even stood up to the leftover portions of lamb with rosemary glaze and mashed potatoes I had for a late night snack, so it can definitely hold its own against some of the heartier dishes. The finish is long as well and fruity.
Strut King is a simple vino rosso, there is not much I can say about it, but that it’s a good red wine and I enjoyed it very much. Like the rooster on the label, this is something to be proud of.
