Magic Box Chardonnay
For Day 11, we’re trying another Chardonnay, this one from Magic Box. This Chard is lush, almost creamy at times with fresh lemon flavors. Total Wine says “yellow fruit” flavors, but I largely tasted lemon in all its various forms: basic lemon, a hint of lemon peel, the softness of lemon chiffon… I tasted a soft hint of butter cream, but definitely not the heavy oaky and vanilla notes of many California Chards. There is moderate acidity here, which helps add to the lemon flavors and the finish is decently long without overstaying the welcome. Even though Magic Box Chardonnay would probably pair well with some chicken and other dishes, this is the sort of Chard that I would best enjoy solo. The fresh fruit flavors and lush body make it a delight on its own.
