2025 Wine Advent-ure: Day 10

D’Amati Red Blend (Puglia)(IGP)

For Day 10 we try D’Amati, an Italian Red from Puglia. It is a deep garnet color, almost opaque with some gradation towards the rim. Looks almost intimidating but appearances are deceiving. This is a fruit-forward, easy drinking wine. Red fruits of cherry, strawberry begin on the palate. The tannins provide a good structure to the wine and are supple. Surprisingly the finish is a little shorter than I expected, the tannins last longer than the fruit. I would have liked to see a more fruity, lingering finish. Regardless this is a smooth wine, even with the fair amount of acidity. Definitely drink as is. I suppose it would be OK to age it maybe a few years, see if the tannins break down a bit on the finish. But I don’t think I could be that patient. 😉
