Gönc Winery “60’s”

Winery: Gönc Vinartstvo (Slovenia)
Varietal: Kerner (100%)

From the Bay of Biscay we travel to Slovenia in trying out this white wine by Gönc. Much as the label symbolizes, this is what I would call a fun wine. It’s crisp and acidic, with aromas of green apple, pear, citrus and white flowers that travel along to the palate with a zesty finish. There is a hint of briny sourness in the wine which makes it delightful if you enjoy margaritas. That said it is very food friendly, and like the Ameztoi Txakolina pairs great with seafood… as well as creamy cheese dishes like the Macaroni and Cheese I enjoyed with it.
