Ameztoi Getariako Txakolina – the name of this Basque wine is quite a mouthful and the wine is as well! This wine is bright with a surprising amount of spritz – apparently a feature of many txakoli from the Bay of Biscay is its spritzy nature, almost like champagne or prosecco. Another feature is high acidity. Tart, intense flavors of green apples are on the palate, with some citrus notes, particularly lemon. For me the tartness even extended to the finish. The tasting notes recommended that it be enjoyed with seafood dishes but the wine is refreshing enough to be enjoyed on its own, particularly on a hot summer day.
