Produced in Galicia this white Ribeiro wine made from native Treixadura grapes is a delight from start to finish. It’s bright and fresh with aromas of lemon, lemongrass and pineapple with just a tiny hint of honeysuckle. The palate is crisp with good acidity. Lemon, pineapple and other citrus flavors shine here, with some white peach for good measure. There is some spritz but it only adds to the liveliness. The wine is light in body but not insubstantial; the finish is nice and fruity and rounds out the flavor. This is my first experience with Treixadura and I gotta say I’m impressed with this offering – I would definitely consider it as a lighter alternative to a Sauvignon Blanc and livelier than many of the unoaked Chardonnays or Pinot Grigios.
