2025 Wine Advent-ure: Day 20

Bistrot Chic Red Blend (France)

Only 4 more days to go… Day 20 we have a red wine from the South of France, “Bistrot Chic”. As it says on the label, it’s a blend of 40% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Syrah. It is very complex, with bright flavors of black cherry and currants and the richness of vanilla, spice and mocha. I might have even tasted a hint of cedar. It is a deep yet harmonious blend. The tannins are really aggressive here, lasting long into the finish, but it seems to work here – despite their prominence, the wine still manages to retain a silky quality while having a bold structure to balance out the fruit flavors. Robust enough for heavy meats, yet still smooth enough to enjoy solo with friends. This is definitely up there in terms of wines so far. Don’t know if I like it over the Magic Box Red Blend but it ranks high with me.
