2025 Wine Advent-ure: Day 6

Laboure’-Gontard Pinot Noir

For Day 6 we have a Pinot Noir from Laboure’-Gontard. Unlike the other five wines we tried so far, this one is a Total Wine Advent Calendar “exclusive”. Exclusivity hype aside, this Pinot Noir is pretty good. Very fruit forward with black cherry, blackberry and other dark red fruit on the palate. The tannin structure is mild and nonaggressive, with a touch of acidity and a solid fruity finish. Interestingly enough the Total Wine tasting notes recommends pairing this wine not only with roasted poultry and charcuterie, but also with seafood, which is unusual for red wine. Me, I probably would go with a more conventional choice like meatballs or stuffed mushrooms. Or just enjoy this on its own – it’s certainly delightful enough to drink solo.

That said, I do wonder how it would stand up to some Shrimp Etouffee’… Something to consider for next time.
