Wild Child Rosé

For Day 18, we try a rosé wine from the Wild Child label, titled simply “Wild Child 2023 Rosé Wine”. I will confess that when I first smelled the rosé I was rather underwhelmed – the tasting notes referred to the aromas as “delicate”, but they were so faint they were almost nonexistent. I had to stick my nose all the way into the glass to detect hints of red fruit and roses. As mild as the aromas were I was expecting the wine to be equally as mild on the palate… And I was wrong. The palate was surprisingly alive and vibrant, bursting with strawberries, raspberries, watermelon and citrus flavors. It has a lively, pleasant acidity and a long, mouthwatering finish of fruit. With such a juicy flavor the Wild Child Rosé qualifies as a porch-pounder for warm, sunny days or as a delightful party wine; I would take this over many a white Zinfandel. Without a doubt, this is a good, palate-pleasing rosé.
