Merlot (North Coast, California)
The wine for Day 8 was a 2022 Merlot from the North Coast region of California. There’s stewed red fruit, plum and spice on the nose, with cherry, strawberry and chocolate on the palate. with a hint of stewed fruit. Tannins are light, as is the acidity. Finish is of medium length, not overly long or short, just in the middle. IGT’s Merlot is simple and soft-bodied, with a slightly rounded mouthfeel. It’s a gentle, unpretentious red that would pair nicely with many dishes as a team player, or can be enjoyed on its own.
