2024 Wine Advent-ure: Day 7

Wild Child Pinot Noir (Central Coast, California)

Day 7’s offering from IGT is a Californian Pinot Noir, named “Wild Child”. When I saw the name I was thinking something brash and unconventional. But for all the implied drama this Pinot Noir struck me as rather comfortable and pleasant. Cherry and raspberry aromas with a hint of spice on the nose, slightly reminiscent of a cherry pie, the palate is just as fruity with some oak on the undertone. The wine has medium acidity with barely any tannins to speak of. Again, nice and pleasant, as opposed to assertive. That said, even though the wine doesn’t quite live up to the implied drama, it is a people-pleaser wine, more than able to liven up a pairing with duck or turkey.
