2024 Wine Advent-ure: Day 5

Fortune Favors Mourvedre (Santa Barbara, CA)

Day 4’s wine from IGT is another one from their Fortune Favors lineup, a Mourvedre. This is a complex wine with deep aromas and flavors of currant, raspberry, plum, tobacco and spice. There is also leather on the palate. This wine is full bodied and bold, with solid tannins that aren’t grippy but add structure and depth. Overall I enjoyed the multitude of fruit and spice flavors intermingling with one another, and it made for a very pleasurable drinking experience.

On a sidenote, I noticed the tasting notes said this wine is from Argentina. However as you can see the bottle says Santa Barbara County on the front, and on the back it says that it is bottled in Grafton CA. Furthermore, Santa Barbara County in California is known as a good source of Mourvedre grapes and wines. So I think it is a misprint on their part. However I could be wrong, if I am please let me know. 🙂
