Live-a-Little Really Ravishing Red
Our In Good Taste Wine Advent Calendar arrived on the second day! It meant we had some catching up to do, so we tried three wines that day. We’ll give each one its own feature on here.
Though we had the calendar, we still wanted to try the second wine from South African label Live-a-Little, called “Really Ravishing Red.” So we went with it first. This is a delightful table red wine, with a bright, red fruity nose (kinda like Rudolph). The fruitiness extends to the palate, bursting with deep cherry and watermelon, but this is not merely a fruit bomb. Spicy undertones of pepper and smoke lurk within, providing a nice contrast. The tannins are surprisingly light and delicate, providing just enough structure to give it definition. Overall, a nice wine, not too overwrought but with good character. I’d like to pair it with duck sometime.
