Live a Little Wildly Wicked White

Region/Country: Western Cape/South Africa
Things got off to a slightly awkward start for this Advent season. Costco decided to no longer carry an Advent calendar at our local store (something about our store not being in the “right region” – whatever), and our other stores were either not carrying Wine Advent calendars or were “Sold Out”, so we ordered an Advent Calendar from In Good Taste. It was supposed to come around Thanksgiving but there was a slight delay and we didn’t get our Advent Calendar until the second of December.
But fortunately, we still had wine to taste. π For the first two days of Advent, my wife bought two wine blends made by Live a Little, an organic wine label produced by Stellar Wine out of South Africa. The wine featured here, the Wildly Wicked White, is the one we tried on December 1st.
Wildly Wicked White is their white blend. and it has a lovely nose of lemon, pineapple and promising tropical aromas, which follows into the palate. I found the palate surprisingly intense, strong notes of lemon chiffon, pineapple and grapefruit, which a tangy acidity that is balanced out a bit by a hint of creaminess, hence more of a chiffon or butter than straight lemon. My wife thought the grapefruit was a little stronger than she would have liked, which made her suspect one of the grapes was Sauvignon Blanc. It may be possible. Seeing as I don’t mind grapefruit it wasn’t a problem for me. π Overall Wildly Wicked White is a porch pounder especially for warmer days, and I definitely would pair it with seafood, maybe a Shrimp Alfredo (Haven’t had that in a while…hmmm).
