For the last day of Advent we have a sweet ending. Nightfall is a semi sweet white blend from Spain that is good for pairing with spicy food, or enjoying solo at a festive evening occasion. Juicy flavors of peach, pineapple and honey burst on the nose and palate with wet stone minerality that reminds me a bit of a riesling. This is a lush white wine with a lingering honeyed finish and just a touch of spritz in lieu of acidity to make it vibrant.
The name “Nightfall” is appropriate, for while the Spanish sun exposure gives the grapes a full, smooth sweetness, the cool nights are vital for the grapes to retain their freshness.
