Wine Advent-ure Day 10:

Octapada

Region/Country: Tierra de Castilla/Spain
Grape Varietal: Macabeo

For the 10th day of Advent we taste a little bit of the heart of Spain in the form of Octapada, a Macabeo from the Castilla/Mancha region (of Don Quixote fame). Tart and floral with aromas of white flowers and flavors of lemon, grapefruit and green apple, this wine is very approachable with seafood and is almost a porch pounder in itself, though the acidic structure may overpower the fruit a tad at times. Nonetheless, Octapada is a crisp wine that is a delight to drink… And the label is pretty badass too, it’s actually one of my favorites so far.
